2021 Jeep Renegade vs Chevrolet Colorado

Choosing a new full-size pickup is no easy task. You want to make sure the model you choose is tough enough to take on the jobs you need, while still being comfortable enough to drive around in day-to-day. You'll also want something with the perfect look and feel, that handles well, and offers the tech features to keep you entertained. With so many options on the market today, the truck that has it all may feel impossible to find! We at Campbell CDJR are here to help. We've chosen two options, the 2021 Jeep Gladiator and the Chevrolet Colorado, and compared them side-by-side to see how they stack up against each other. The Gladiator is athletic and versatile, with details and features you can only find on a Jeep! The Colorado is a bit more traditional, though it received some updates for 2021. Continue reading below to help find the right truck for you!

2021 Jeep Gladiator Power & Handling

The Jeep Gladiator's powertrain options have been updated for its 2021 model year. There are now two options available, the first of which is the 3.6-liter V6 paired with a 6-speed manual transmission, which provides 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. There is now a diesel engine available, the turbocharged 3-liter diesel V6 which pumps out 260 horsepower and 442 lb-ft of torque! The diesel also comes standard with an 8-speed automatic transmission. With the diesel engine, the Gladiator offers an impressive 7,650-pound towing capacity. While all models are sportier than the average truck, the Rubicon and Mojave trims offer true off-road athleticism, bearing Jeep's Trail Rated and Desert Rated badges, respectively. These models feature all-terrain tires, FOX shock absorbers, and off-road suspension for improved handling in all conditions.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Power & Handling

The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado offers three engine options for its 2021 lineup. The first is a 2.5-liter inline-4 providing 200 horsepower and 191 lb-ft of torque. The second is a 3.6-liter V6 providing 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque, and the final option is a 2.8-liter turbodiesel inline-4 which offers up 186 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Despite having the extra powertrain option, the Colorado's maximum towing capacity is comparable to that of the Gladiator. The Colorado also has two models that make their case in terms of off-road capability, the Z71 and ZR2, though their equipment and ground clearance don't quite measure up to the Gladiator. The Chevolet Colorado offers either rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive depending on which of its four trim levels you choose.

2021 Jeep Gladiator Features & Design

The Gladiator has an instantly recognizable design that's reminiscent of the Jeep Wrangler. All models feature a 5-foot bed, as well as a removable roof, doors, and fold-down windshield that allow you to fully embrace the open air. The Gladiator is great for both work and play, and even has an available portable Bluetooth speaker that charges while you drive, so you can have music wherever you go. The Gladiator comfortably seats up to five passengers, with either high-quality cloth or leather upholstery depending on the trim level. In terms of technology, the Gladiator features the Uconnect infotainment system with up to an 8.4-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and satellite radio. For extra storage, the rear seats can be lifted up to reveal a hidden cargo area with an available locking storage box.

2021 Chevrolet Colorado Features & Design

The Chevrolet Colorado features a classic-looking design, with a front fascia that's been updated for 2021. In terms of tech, the base-level trim features the Infotainment 3 system with a 7-inch touchscreen, with connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The upper-level trims bump up the screen size to 8 inches. Some may find entry into the Colorado a bit difficult, due to its high stance and relatively narrow door openings. Side steps are optional, which may prove necessary for some passengers. Some additional options include leather upholstery for the upper trims, a Wi-Fi hotspot, keyless entry, and cruise control. Standard features include power windows, air conditioning, and cloth upholstery.

Conclusion:

Though both these trucks have a wide array of features across each of their trim levels, we feel that the Jeep Gladiator is the stronger option of the two. It offers so much versatility among its trims, with each model offering true Jeep athleticism, impressive towing, and plenty of comfort and entertainment features.
